Cllr Harte questions review process
Labour Cllr. Jimmy Harte suggested that council review of properties proposed for long-term social leasing could be organised differently.
At Monday's meeting of the Letterkenny Electoral Area, the councillor said he spoke with a man who had gone through a number of procedures to ready his property for consideration for the scheme, only to learn at the end of the review that his property was not suitable because it had no first-floor toilet.
"They could have done that the first stage and not the last stage," Cllr. Harte said. Under the new scheme, local authorities enter into leases with property owners for up to 20 years.
Cllr. Harte also welcomed the council's repainting of turn signals at the Station Roundabout. The new markings indicate that traffic from Ramelton Road uses the right lane for Pearse Road. Different markings applied late last year confused motorists, the councillor said. The new markings restored the way traffic had proceeded at the roundabout.
