Minister of State for Housing, Willie Penrose, TD., has turned down a request to meet a deputation from Donegal County Council.
The council made the request in April, after councillors reviewed new department regulations and criteria for social housing. Councillors expressed concern over the impact of the directives on Donegal and directed council to seek the meeting.
At the June council meeting Cllr Dessie Larkin, SPC chairperson, asked for an update on the request. Liam Ward, acting director for housing and building service, said council received a June 21 e-mail that said the minister could not meet the council “due to a heavy schedule of diary commitments”. Department officials will deal with any queries, councillors were told.
