The young nurse who died in a two-car collision near Donegal Town on Monday morning will be laid to rest today.
Deirdre Burke (26) of Tymeen, Letterbarrow, Drimarone was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision, which occured at at 9.40am at Ardlenagh.
She had been working at a nursing home in Adelaide, Australia and was engaged to be married. It is understood that she was visiting Donegal to attend a wedding.
Fr Adrian Gavigan, local curate and a friend of the family, told the Democrat that she was “a young lady that loved life and everything was going well for her”. Her tragic death, he added, had cast “a dark cloud over Drimarone”.
Her funeral will take place at 11am today in the Church of the Holy Redeemer, Drimarone, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
