Four brave swimmers from the Ballyshannon area have been very busy in recent weeks training for a big charity event on August 20th.

They will be swimming from St Johns point to Creevy Pier in aid of Parkinson’s disease. James McIntyre, Barry Duffy, Sarah Meehan and Sinead Donagher are the brave souls.

“We have been in training for the past eight weeks and have logged a huge amount miles and competed in some serious distance swimming races including Warrior of the sea!,” James told the Democrat.

All four swimmers are members of the National championship title holders Donegal surf lifesaving masters team, and all gold medal holders in individual events! Online donation, sponsor cards and buckets will all roll out early this week.

The endeavour is sponsored by Richie Fitzgerald’s Surf world/surf coach. More details to follow.
