Thomas Pringle, independent TD, has called on Donegal people to support a national protest against cuts in special needs assistants (SNAs) and school transport funding.
The independent technical group in the Dáil, of which Deputy Pringle is a member, and the Special Needs Parents Association are organising a protest next week against the cuts.
“We’d be calling on as many parents and people affected as possible to mobilise on July 13 outside the Dáil on Kildare Street,” Deputy Pringle said, encouraging Donegal people to “make their voices heard”.
The protest will be held the afternoon of Wednesday, July 13; the time has not yet been finalised.
The deputy said there are Donegal families who have learned since the school year ended that their child’s SNA help has been cut or that incoming students will not be offered an SNA. “It’s having a huge impact,” he said.
