Stranorlar area Councillor Patrick McGowan has welcomed a grant of €50,000 for a new cycle path and walk way in Ballybofey.

The project will see 560 metres of riverside path and cycle way created on an abandoned country road which will link up with riverside walks.

The new pathway will lead out past Hotel and across the Drumboe Wood footbridge towards the Glenfinn Road.

A grant of €52,000 has been designated to the project which will include tarmacking, streetlighting and bollards to prevent vehicles from driving on it.

Cllr. McGowan said: I would like to thank local man Kevin Harrold for the consultation work he carried out with local landowners and also Stranorlar area engineer Adrian McCool.”
