A Donegal security company is offering a 500 euro reward for information leading to the arrest of people responsible for a racist attack on a security guard in a Letterkenny park.

Martin Hilferty, managing director of Orbit Security in Letterkenny, said the company was seeking the public’s help in finding those responsible. The guard, a married father of three, has worked with Orbit for nine years.

Originally from Ghana, the guard was patrolling Bernard McGlinchey Town Park on Friday night when he attempted to move people who were drinking. The men in the group attacked the guard physically and verbally, using racial slurs against him.

“He has the full support of us at Orbit”, and many well-wishers have come to the office to offer support as well, Mr. Hilferty said. He urged anyone with information to contact gardaí.
