Letterkenny-based Peace Commissioner, P.J. Blake has paid tribute to retired Garda Inspector, Sylvie Henry.
“He was a stalwart member of the force who did so much for the community,” he said of the popular Garda who retired at the end of the year.
“Sylvie Henry is the reason the drugs unit has been such a success.
“I know the amount of work he put into it and I applaud him for it.
“Its success underlines its importance and his involvement has been crucial in taking it forward.
“I only hope the powers that be won’t decide to do away with the drugs unit in Donegal given the work that has gone into it and its detection rate,” said Mr. Blake.
Voicing best wishes to the retired Inspector, his wife Doreen and family, he added; “It’s a sad day for the force to be losing someone of his calibre.”
