Judge John O’Hagan has lauded all those involved in clearing the long backlog of cases that had built up in Donegal.
Speaking at Donegal Circuit Court on Tuesday, Judge O’Hagan told those attending. “Donegal causes me considerable concern given the size of the lists. However, the indictable list is now relatively up to date and we’ve made good progress on the list in Letterkenny. For the most part, they are now indictments for cases that arose in 2011. That is tremendous work on behalf of the state solicitor and all the various representatives involved.
“The District Court appeals list has also shrunk considerably from other days and it’s very good to see that. A lot of work is being done. Of the 32 caseslisted, 20 of those are in fact appeals that have been lodged this year, which is very healthy indeed. Well done to everybody involved and I hope that further progress can be made in the future.”
