Judge John O’Hagan has urged those in arrears with financial institutions to come to court and give their side of the story, especially if the debt concerns the family home.

Speaking at Donegal Circuit Court on Tuesday, Judge O’Hagan said: “I am asking anyone who is having problems with making their repayments to financial institutions, especially if it relates to a mortgage on the family home, to please come to court. I can do something for them if they engage with the process but I can’t do anything if they don’t engage. Come to court and put your cards on the table, don’t put your head in the sand.”
