The Save Our Cancer Services North West group said yesterday that they expect a “clear and unambiguous” statement on cancer services “in line with pre-election commitments”

In a statement released yesterday, the campaign group said it had been made aware “that local members of the government will make an announcement regarding the restoration of cancer services to Sligo General Hospital to coincide with the ending of the new government’s first 100 days in office.”

The statement continued: “The details of this announcement are as yet unknown. A press conference has been arranged for 2pm on Friday, June 17, at which, we are informed, full details will be placed into the public domain.

“Representatives from the campaign have been invited to attend the press conference and expect that the information given will be clear and unambiguous and in line with pre-election commitments given by both government parties, Fine Gael and Labour.”
