Irish American cop survives NYC shooting

A brave young New York City cop, whose family is from Ireland, has survived being shot in the head at point blank range.

Kevin Brennan (29) and two other officers responded to a report of shots being fired in the Bushwick houses area of Brooklyn last Tuesday night. Brennan chased suspect Luis ‘Baby’ Ortiz into the lobby of a building where Ortiz (21) allegedly opened fire on him.

Against all the odds, the bullet lodged behind the police officer’s right ear instead of continuing on into his brain.

Doctors operated on Brennan in the emergency room, rather than risk moving him again, and managed to remove the .38 bullet.

The hero cop’s wife Janet said he told her that being shot in the head was like “getting hit with a sledgehammer”.

The first thing he asked for after the surgery was to see their six-week-old daughter Maeve.
