As investigations into Tuesday night’s punishment shooting in St. Johnston continue, Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
A 39-year-old man was shot four times in the attack which took place at a house at Legnatraw, around 4km from the village.
He was shot in the legs and upper arms by two masked men who entered the house sometime between 10pm and 10.30pm on Tuesday night.
The man has undergone surgery in a Dublin hospital.
There have been a number of punishment-style attacks in Derry in recent months but Tuesday’s attack was the first such incident in this county since the murder of Andrew Allen near Buncrana in February, which was also claimed by RAAD.
