A man has been shot in St Johnston.

It is understood that the man, who is aged in his late 20s, was shot in the arms and legs after two armed and masked men broke into his home.

The man is reported to be a native of Derry who had been living in the rented house for a number of months.

Superintendent Vincent O’Brien, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

He said the gardaí are working with the PSNI in their investigations.

Supt. O’Brien added: “Nobody has come forward to claim responsibility for this attack and it is too early to speculate. We are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and I asking anyone who might have information to contact either their local gardaí or Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 916 7100.
