Man stabbed in Letterkenny

A man in his thirties is being treated in hospital in Dublin after being stabbed in Letterkenny on Monday evening.

A man in his thirties is being treated in hospital in Dublin after being stabbed in Letterkenny on Monday evening.

The incident took place at around 7.30pm close to Gallagher’s Hotel on Upr. Main Street. It is understood he suffered wounds to the face, head and chest. He was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital and has since been transferred to Dublin. The victim who is from Letterkenny, is a married father of two young children and he was home on holiday from the US.

The scene was cordoned off after the incident for forensic examination but has since been reopened.

The attack has been condemned by Mayor of Letterkenny Cllr. Gerry McMonagle.
