Former General Manager of the Quinn Group, Letterkenny native Deace Mackey, joined a number of high-profile representatives in support of the founder of the company at Sunday evening’s rally in Ballyconnell, County Cavan.
Mr. Mackey, who subsequently left the company to help set up a property development company but returned as a non-executive director in June 2010, was among thousands of people who were backing the Fermanagh businessman.
Tyrone G.A.A. manager, Mickey Harte, along with former Armagh manager, Joe Kernan, and well known cleric, Fr. Brian D’Arcy were also present at the rally.
The Letterkenny man, who served as Town Clerk in the town, and as County Secretary in Donegal, and was subsequently appointed County Manager in Cavan, joined the Quinn Group in 1989 and worked with the company for ten years, six of them as General Manager. He also worked as Finance Officer with the group.
Sean Quinn, whose son Sean Quinn Jnr., is currently serving three months in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison, has stated that he has no regrets over attempts to keep his assets out of the reach of the former Anglo Irish Bank.
