Gardaí and fire crews attended the scene of a school bus fire that broke out in Barnesmore Gap on Tuesday evening.

Gardaí and fire crews attended the scene of a school bus fire that broke out in Barnesmore Gap on Tuesday evening.

The driver was understood to be the sole occupant of the bus and managed to pull the vehicle over to the hard shoulder before getting off safely.

Eye witnesses observed smoke coming from the engine and later it caught fire. The bus was destroyed in an intense blaze at approximately 5pm No one was injured in the fire.

Donegal Town gardaí attended the scene to assist with traffic duties while a local fire crew brought the fire under control.
