Letterkenny hotelier Brian Gallagher has been named Business Person of the Year at the Letterkenny Chamber’s Letterkenny annual business awards.
The owner of the Station House Hotel said he was “honoured and shocked” to receive the award ahead of very strong competition.
Mr Gallagher has been running the hotel from its Old Town Road location for the last six years. The hotel is built on the site of the station house which was bought by his parents in 1953 from the Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway.
Success in business in the current climate is measured by survival, he said. “It is a success just to be where you are and looking to the further. It’s just a matter of maintaining your staff levels, staying in business and hoping that things will turn the corner.”
He thanked his wife Christine for her help and support. “She has helped keep the focus on the business but also at the same time showing the importance of family, and that family is just as important as business.”
