Gardaí in Ballyshannon are investigating a report of a burglary in Pettigo.
A Garda spokesperson said a report was received at around 8.30 on Friday evening that a number of men had entered the unlocked home of an elderly lady in a rural area, Bellault, near Pettigo.
The men searched the house and made of with “a substantial quantity” of cash.
It is understood that they then travelled in direction of Pettigo black Nissan Pathfinder Jeep within NI plates.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí in Ballyshannon on 071 985 8530.
Bundoran Town Councillor Mick McMahon said the news was “cause for concern”.
He said it was important to keep rural garda stations, banks and post offices open in order to help prevent this kind of crime.
