Donegal farmers are being encouraged to follow up on ideas they have to diversify their produce for local markets, a meeting of Donegal Irish Farmers’ Association heard this week.
Eve Anne McCarron from the Donegal Food Strategy addressed the monthly executive meeting of Donegal IFA in the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny last night. She said her group would like to hear from local farmers considering diversifying their produce as they can offer help in advising and assisting them to feature in local shops and restaurants.
She added that grants are available to producers who come to them with “commercially viable” ideas.
