Funeral of man who died in Australia

The remains of Shaun O’Neill, the young man from Killybegs who died in a car crash in Australia earlier this month, will be brought home this evening and his funeral will take place on Saturday.

The remains of Shaun O’Neill, the young man from Killybegs who died in a car crash in Australia earlier this month, will be brought home this evening and his funeral will take place on Saturday.

Shaun O’Neill, who was aged in his late 20s, was the youngest of five children. His father Gerry passed away just over a year ago and his mother Veronica McCafferty is a native of Ardara.

The family moved to Boston about 15 years ago, but maintain their home in Killybegs.

Last January, Shaun emigrated to Australia, where many of his cousins are living and where he quickly found work. He died in a car crash on Saturday, May 4.

Remains are expected to arrive at the family home at Louthead, on the Donegal Road, in Killybegs at around 9 o’clock tonight.

Removal from there on Saturday at 10.30 am to St. Mary’s Church, Killybegs for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the local cemetery.
