The first Donegal man to conquer Everest has told of how he failed his Leaving Certificate examination and still went on to achieve his dream.

As more than 2,000 Donegal students received their Leaving Cert results yesterday, Jason Black urged those young people who may have been disappointed to “never stop believing”.

The Letterkenny man, who inspired many earlier this summer after conquering Mount Everest, said: “Never stop believing. Three years after failing my Junior Cert, I failed my Leaving Cert, yet it never stopped me from taking on the world.

“Always remember: ‘There’s no mountain too high and no problem too big that can’t be conquered’.

“With the determination to succeed everything is achievable,” said Jason.
