Former world open water swimmer of the year, Anna Marie Ward, has successfully taken part in an extreme challenge across the Bering Strait.
Portnablagh woman, Anne Marie, along with her friend Nuala Moore from Kerry were part of the team of extreme open water swimmers that successfully swam in relay from Russia to Alaska in the United States of America.
They braved the risk of extreme weather, freezing water temperatures, as well as unpredictable marine life, in one of the most hostile environments in the world, which features as the backdrop to the hit TV show, Deadliest Catch.
Updating people on her social media, the former Donegal person of the years said it was a very difficult mission that had left her “humbled” to have been part of and they are now looking forward to coming home.
