Finner soldier dies in fall at Dublin barracks
A soldier based at Finner Camp has died after falling from a height at McKee Barracks in Dublin.

A soldier based at Finner Camp has died after falling from a height at McKee Barracks in Dublin.

A Defence Forces spokesperson named the soldier as Private Patrick (Paddy) Conlon from Collooney, Sligo and described the death as “a tragic accident”.

The soldier was pronounced dead in the Mater Hospital at 2.10am.

Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces Lt Gen Seán McCann said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time,”

The military are offering support to the soldier’s family.

Gardaí and military police are investigating the incident.
