The number of personal injury awards in Donegal last year was 28 per cent behind the national average.
Donegal also had the lowest rate of personal injury awards in Ulster per head of population, according to the Injuries Board. Figures from the Injuries Board Annual Review for 2012 show Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal all had lower claims than the national average. The total compensation awarded by the State body increased by 3.9% to €217.9 million. The average award in 2012 was 21,502, euro with the highest being 697,495 euro.
