Readers are reporting marked increase in garda checkpoints across Donegal this Bank Holiday weekend.
Gardaí have issued an appeal to motorists to slow down and protect themselves by taking greater care on busy Bank Holiday roads.
A senior garda warned that gardaí locally would be targeting the wearing of seatbelts.
Two people have been killed on Donegal roads so far this year, a 50% increase on the same period last year. Nationally, 13 more people lost their lives on Irish roads in the first four months of 2013.
