When Lauren Ryan played Ring around a Rosy at pre-school, “she’d be screaming with the pain caused by someone holding her hand”.
It’s a memory that still haunts Lauren’s mum Tina.
She wants to spread the word that arthritis can, and does, affect 1,000 children in Ireland.
“We first noticed problems around Lauren’s second birthday. One of her hands started swelling and we took her to casualty. They said there were no breakages. For nine months, nothing changed.”
September is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month.
