Rise in RNLI life boat call-outs
The Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) have reported a 40% increase in call outs this summer.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) have reported a 40% increase in call outs this summer.

New figures released by the RNLI shows a 40% rise in the number of lifeboat launches in Donegal in June, July and August.

The Donegal figure is large in keeping with the overall national figure of 43%.There were 35 launches in Donegal this summer compared to 25 in 2012.

The busiest Donegal lifeboat was Lough Swilly, with 16 launches in June, July and August, compared to 14 in 2012.

Arranmore launched ten times this year, compared to eight last year, while Bundoran station saw its call-outs increase by 200%, from three to nine.
