The completion of repairs to footpaths, a wall and street lighting in Doneyloop must be made a priority, according to one councillor in the Stranorlar Electoral Area.
Councillor Martin Harley raised this issue at committee meeting on Tuesday.
He said works had been taking place in the area and he welcomed the funding allocated to the area but their had been little progress of late.
“It was a fantastic project and great to see the money being allocated in the Claudy/Doneyloop area. It’s great to see investment in an area that some think was overlooked during the troubles but the lack of progress has left a sour taste,” he stated.
He claimed the works got underway in the second week of January last, but some of it still has not been completed.
“It is now the second week of September and the footpath is still unfinished and the lighting is due to be turned on in the next week or two.”
He urged council officials present that the work be completed before the weather deteriorates.
“I hope something will happen and that you keep the pressure on to just finish the project now that we are coming into winter.”
He added that a section of wall also need to be repaired in the village.
