Majella O’Donnell’s decision to have her hair shaved on live television has raised €550,000, Ryan Tubridy revealed at the top of tonight’s Late Late show.

Majella O’Donnell’s decision to have her hair shaved on live television has raised €550,000, Ryan Tubridy revealed at the top of tonight’s Late Late show.

Donations have been rolling in all week - initially the response was so great it crashed the Irish Cancer Society’s text lines, phone lines and website.

The money will go to the Irish Cancer Society.

Last week on the Late Late Majella spoke about being diagnosed with breast cancer and her decision to have her head shaved live on the show.

Tonight’s Late Late show featured a short recorded video from Majella who thanked viewers for their remarkable generosity.

Ryan Tubridy thanked Majella and wished her well. As the item finished there was loud applause from the audience at tonight’s show.
