There was widespread shock in the fishing port of Killybegs this afternoon as news emerged that man had been killed in an industrial accident in the town.

Locals sources have indicated that the 21 year old man got trapped in machinery at the Sean Ward Transport Company in the town. It was also reported that an ambulance arrived on the scene shortly before 3.30pm and that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood that the victim was from Inver, just south of Mountcharles.

Cllr. John Campbell said, “I am totally shocked beyond belief as is the whole community - we are simply devastated. This is a very closely knit community and everybody is just numb at the news.”
