Convoy based dairy business, Green Pastures, has launched a new fleet of high tech milk collection tankers
They employ the latest technology to reduce milk collection times and automate the secure transfer needed to pay farmers for the milk collected.
Green Pastures recently took delivery of the first two of its new fleet of milk tankers which boast cutting-edge GPRS and GPS systems, allowing the tanker itself to automatically recognise which farm it is on and to send in real time milk collection and quality information for that farm directly into the company’s computer milk procurement system.
John Molloy, Green Pastures Owner said, “This new tanker technology allows us to track our tankers by satellite and have real time information on the temperature, location, time and volume of milk collected from each farmer also the time and temperature of washes.“
Using GIS technology also contributes to the company’s ongoing quest to reduce its carbon foot print, he said.
