Donegal man faces Monaghan road death charge
A Donegal man has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a woman in a crash in Co. Monaghan earlier this year.

A Donegal man has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a woman in a crash in Co. Monaghan earlier this year.

A book of evidence was served at Carrickmacross District Court on Declan O’Donnell (27), Whitehill, Churchhill, Letterkenny.

It is alleged that he caused the death of Michelle McCabe on January 25 last in a two-car collision on the N2 about five miles from Carrickmacross.

Thirty four year old Michelle McCabe, from Shantonagh, Carrickmacross was travelling with her eight-year-old son, five-year-old daughter and 62-year-old mother when she was involved in a collision on the main Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road at Tullvaragh Lower, Carrickmacross.

The collision occurred at about 5pm.

Mr O’Donnell was given an allibi warning relating to the charge by Judge Sean McBride.

The case will now be sent forward to the Circuit Court.
