Eoin McManus, from the Donegal Road in Ballyshannon, has landed the first salmon of 2014.

Eoin, a son of Gerry and Linda McManus, brought the 8lbs fish to shore using a Rapalla. Fishing from the the telegraph pole at Lennox’s Bridge, Eoin’s catch confirms the Drowse as the premier fishing river in the country for first salmon of the year.

The Drowes Fishery reported water is still high at just a shade under 1 metre but today was almost totally dry and mild and the river should start to slowly drop at last.
