A 25-year-old man has been cleared of any part in a two-hour stand-off at a house in Letterkenny after a three-day trial at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

John Boyle of 14 Leckview Cottages, Letterkenny was found not guilty of criminal damage and breach of the peace at 72 Thornbury, Letterkenny on October 13th, 2011.

Mr. Boyle had denied any role in the incident which developed from a party at the house and resulted in 13 arrests after gardaí in riot gear broke down the barricaded front door to gain entry.

Video footage shown to the jury showed items being dropped on gardaí from an upstairs window.

Two men who had been convicted and jailed for their part in the disturbance gave evidence that Mr. Boyle - who was arrested in an upstairs bedroom - had no part in the incident.

The jury found Boyle not guilty of both charges.
