The husband and son of Bundoran Town Councillor Florence Doherty (Ind) have been barred from attending council meetings until court cases against them have been resolved.

Thomas McNulty (55) of Main Street, Bundoran and his son Joe McNulty (32) 85 Doran Close, Bundoran are both charged with public order offences arising from an incident at Bundoran Town Council on February 10 last.

At Ballyshannon District Court today, Garda Inspector Denis Joyce sought an undertaking from both men that they would not attend any council meetings until the matters before the court were resolved.

Thomas McNulty asked if he could attend the Bundoran Public Services Centre for other business and he was told he could.

He commented: “I never attended a meeting, only when the wife had trouble.”

Judge Kevin Kilrane adjourned the cases to May 2, to allow gardaí furnish statements to the defence.
