Warm tributes were paid to recently retired Garda Superintendent Vincent O’Brien in Letterkenny Circuit Court this week.
On Tuesday morning, Superintendent O’Brien (pictured) appeared in court for the last time as a representative of An Garda Siochana.
Mr O’Brien, a native of Collooney in Sligo, served in Donegal for 32 years and was based in Letterkenny prior to his retirement.
Judge John O’Hagan said he wanted to thank Mr O’Brien for the support he gave him over the years since he came to Donegal and the Northern Circuit.
He highlighted that during Supt. O’Brien’s distinguished career in policing in the county there were many difficult times for the gardaí.
Tributes were also paid by state prosecutor Patricia McLaughlin, barrister Peter Nolan and solicitor Frank Dorrian.
Mr O’Brien thanked everyone for their kind words and also thanked his colleagues, the legal profession, the courts service and the media for their help.
