Donegal man William McAteer, the former Anglo Irish Bank Director convicted of providing illegal loans to 10 individuals will be back in the Circuit Criminal Court in Dublin today where his sentence hearing before Judge Martin Nolan will begin.
Former Anglo director of finance McAteer and head of Irish lending Pat Whelan were convicted by a jury on April 17 following a 48-day trial of providing the loans to the group known as the Maple 10. The hearing will include a number of submissions on behalf of both men and a summary of relevant trial in relation to the convictions. Judge Nolan has indicated he is unlikely to give a decision on sentences until a later date.
