The 8th Annual Poor farmers Auction held at Teague’s bar Ardara on Sunday 29th December 2013 was again a huge success, raising an astonishing €25,500.00 for Ardara Community Childcare Centre, Ardara Woodhill Resource Centre and the Hospice Homecare. On Friday night 10th Jan. 3 cheques were handed over to the following worthy recipients:
€8,500 was given to the Hospice Homecare team to purchase 4 syringe drivers required by the hospice nursing staff to administer medication.
€8,500 for the local Woodhill Resource Centre in Ardara to fund an outdoor patio/sensory area for it’s service users,
and €8,500 for the Ardara Community Childcare Centre to fund their Sensory room with Specialised equipment.
The Poor Farmers Association would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported the event this year, and every year those who donated lots for auction, who bought items at the auction, purchased tickets for the Raffle and who gave of their time over the Christmas period to prepare Teague’s Bar for the event and after.
Without the generosity of the people of Ardara, Glenties, Narin and afar this event would not be possible, so we thank you all most sincerely,
The “Pink Barra bonanza” of farming and other goods sponsored by Teague’s Bar was won by Hughie Gallagher “Conny” Glenish Ardara, we hope he enjoys the pink Barra for many years.
To date the P.F.A has raised for Hospice, Cancer Research, Hospice Homecare and local Charities €190,409.00 an unbelievable amount of money in these challenging times again this was made possible through hard work, imagination and a Fantastic association which is the Poor Farmers. The P.f.A purchase on behalf of the charities, and every penny raised is accounted for, the event costs No money to run, the association and members of the Ardara community give of their time voluntarily to organise this great event.
