The founder of Ireland’s first Kombucha brewery in Gweedore won both the innovation award and the best processed product award for her Synerchi Live Kombucha Original Tea.
Laura Murphy who has trained in the US in Kombucha fermentation and craft brewing skills impressed the judges who said her tea-based drink “is a superb tasting product” which features “very accessible branding” and gives the public a chance to purchase a “healthy alternative soft drink.”
The achievements and contributions of five Irish organic food and drink companies were being recognised at the National Organic Awards held in the headquarters of Bord Bia in Dublin.
Over eighty industry representatives gathered for the event which rewards quality and excellence within the Irish organic sector across categories including direct selling, innovation and export. Minister Tom Hayes said that the organic food and drink sector is vital to the economy.
