Almost 2,500 people are waiting more than a year to see a consultant at Letterkenny General Hospital, according to Charlie McConalogue, TD.
He said that, over the last six months, 1,500 more people have joined the list, bringing the number to nearly 2,500.
The Fianna Fáil deputy blamed “ mismanagement of the health budget and the failure of the Minister to ensure that an appropriate budget is given to ensure that appropriate funds are given to meet the demand that is going to be there”.
Deputy McConalogue also criticised delays in Fair Deal funding, which, he said, are “costing families as much as €1,000 a week” and resulting in delays of up to four months in accessing nursing home care for the elderly.
