A motion is set to be tabled at tonight’s meeting of Letterkenny Town Council calling for an extension to be sought for the deadline where council tenants can opt to purchase their residence.
The motion is being proposed by Councillor Gerry McMonagle.
He is proposing that the council write to Housing Minister Jan O’Sullivan and ask her to put a case to the Minister of the Environment to extend the deadline whereby tenants can buy out their homes from the council.
The meeting is due to get underway at 7pm.
This will be the penultimate meeting of the local authority before it is disbanded after the May local elections. It will be replaced with a Municipal Authority Committee.
