Bundoran Town Councillor Mick McMahon is calling for the files on the Pettigo bombing of 28 September 1972 to re-opened.
The Sinn Féin councillor believes that the possibility of collusion between the RUC and loyalist paramilitaries was never fully investigated.
“A car bomb was left outside the home and shop of Plunkett Reid on Mill Street, causing widespread damage to homes, many of which lost their roofs in the blast.
“There were allegations at the time that the UVF and RUC were working hand in hand.
“I would like to see the files being passed over and an enquiry carried out.”
