Sam’s for the Hills

Sam’s for the Hills, by Dónal Campbell and co-written by Inishowen Independent’s Damian Dowds, is a detailed sports history book focused on Donegal Gaelic football, particularly the county’s journey through the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship that culminated in its first ever All-Ireland win in 1992.

The book’s title reflects the famous line spoken by Donegal captain Anthony Molloy as he lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in 1992, encapsulating the county’s pride and achievement in bringing Gaelic football’s top prize back to the hills of Donegal.

Interviews and recollections from players and figures involved give an insight into the on‑field drama and off‑field passions that shaped Donegal’s football history during the late 20th century, up to the early 2000s.
