Daniel O'Donnell and his wife Majella renew their wedding vows
Daniel O'Donnell has recalled how he and his wife Majella struck up an instant bond when they first met.
Daniel met with Majella at her parents' bar on Tenerife.
The couple got married in November 2022 and they got 2023 off to a loving start by renewing their wedding vows.
Daniel and Majella were joined by a small number of family members at a low-key ceremony in their Kincasslagh home.
“We got on very well, from the very beginning,” Daniel told RSVP Magazine. “Obviously we struck up a relationship immediately.”
The Donegal crooner told how he had some initial 'reservations' as Majella was married previously.
They rekindled their relationship following a brief split.
Daniel said: “It was during the period of the separation that I think I realised that I enjoyed her more than even I knew. I remember thinking, 'Why would I miss out on this?'”
The country music star outlined his pride in Majella, who opened up on her life in an interview with RTÉ’s Keys to My Life in September.
Daniel lost his father (Francis) when he was a child and said people shouldn't be burdened by what-ifs?
He said: “People often say to me, 'You know, it’s terrible that your father died when you were a young child, and you didn’t know him.' But that’s the only life I knew, you can wonder about what-ifs. I was blessed, in the way that I was brought up.
“Sure, it would have been nice if my father had got to live longer, and I would have got to get to know him better. Everybody goes forward with the life that they have, not the life that they thought they should have and that’s what Majella had to do.”
