Letterkenny drug-driver put off the road

The man was given a driving disqualification when he appeared before Letterkenny District Court this week

A man caught drug-driving in Letterkenny has been put off the road.

On May 2, 2021, Garda Paddy Ryan observed Daniel Nowakowski at Killyclug, Letterkenny.

Nowakowski was stopped and Garda Ryan formed the opinion that he was driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Nowakowski was arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station, where a subsequent blood test confirmed the presence of cannabis in his system.

Nowakowski, a 30-year-old of Meadowbank Park, Letterkenny, was before this week's sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

Solicitor for Nowakowski, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client had suffered a very serious accident which gives rise to 'unrelenting pain'.

Nowakowski, a father-of-four, works part-time as a kitchen porter and has no previous convictions.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham disqualified Nowakowski for one year andf fined him €200.
