Animals In Need, Donegal, have warned of the consequences of leaving off donations after the store has closed.
The shop, which is located in Donegal Town, is now open on Tuesdays to Saturdays - 11am to 4pm. AIN have warned that donations left outside those hours will be seen as illegal litter and footage will be referred to authorities for prosecution.
This is because donations are likely to be spoiled outside and can only be properly monitored by volunteers during opening hours.
“We want to thank all those kind donors who donate such lovely items to our charity store to sell and raise funds for the rescue of stray and abandoned animals,” AIN Donegal said. “For these donations to be made available for sale in a safe and secure manner while ensuring our volunteers' health and safety at all times, donations to the charity shop can only be accepted when the charity shop is open and donations are handed to a volunteer in the shop. This way, donations can be properly monitored.
“We ask you not to leave any donations outside shop opening hours, please, as these are spoiled by rain and dew. We are grateful for your full cooperation. We have clear signage in place outside the shop with which donations we can accept, and our volunteers are happy to advise you on your arrival.

“Please remember that AIN has to pay for the disposal of these unusable, and often spoiled, items which can't be sold. We have 24-hour CCTV in operation outside the shop and we will be starting to pass this to the authorities with reports of flytipping for any donations left outside of the shop.”
