Kilcar GAA will benefit from a €100,000 grant for a new spectator stand in Towney

Communities across Donegal are set to benefit from a major funding boost of €763,000 through CLÁR, with a series of local projects awarded significant grants for improvement works and new amenities.

Ardara GAA will receive €65,000 to upgrade its car park, while €65,000 has been allocated for upgrading catering facilities at the Cloghan Day Centre. Convoy’s Deele Community Anglers have secured €65,000 for a new solar power system, and Termon’s Community Centre will see a €65,000 investment in a new shelter.

A further €65,000 has been granted for the development of a forest and river walk in Gweedore, and the same amount will support transforming the former Church of Ireland building in Glencolmcille into a community amenity. Glenties and Edeninfagh have been awarded €100,000 to reinstate the popular walk at the Croaghs, while €65,000 has been approved for lighting at Lough Bunaninver. Kilcar GAA will benefit from a €100,000 grant for a new spectator stand in Towney, and Pettigo has received €65,000 for a GAA loop walk. Inisbofin has also been awarded €43,172 to develop a picnic area complete with seating and signage.

Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary TD.

“This funding is a real and practical investment in rural communities that rely so heavily on volunteer effort and local leadership,” Gallagher said. “I commend every volunteer and every community organisation involved, and I welcome this funding as a strong vote of confidence in their dedication to their respective communities.

“I would like to thank Minister Calleary for continuing to support CLÁR areas and Donegal in particular.”
