Cecil Nixon is inducted into the Red Hughs Hall of Fame in 2010.
Red Hughs GAA club have paid tribute to Hall of Famer Cecil Nixon following his death on Friday.
Cecil played football in his youth and was goalkeeper on the Crossroads team that lost to Cloughanneely in the 1959 Donegal JFC final.
“Cecil was a lifelong supporter of the club and attended many games and functions down through the years,” Red Hughs said.
“Both Cecil & Gracie were always in attendance at the Red Hughs GAA annual club dinner dances.
“It was at the club dinner dance in 2010 that Cecil was presented with the Hall of Fame award, a very proud night for both himself and Gracie.
“One of life's true gentlemen, who will be sadly missed & fondly remembered by everyone at the Red Hughs GAA club.”
A Service of Thanksgiving for Cecil's life will be conducted at his late residence on Monday, January 9 at 1.30pm. Interment afterwards in St. Mary's Cemetery, Castlefin at approximately 2pm. The death notice says that both the house and funeral are private,.
