Kilcar woman Linda Boyle has been confirmed as a Sinn Féin candidate for the forthcoming local elections.

Ms Boyle was ratified at a convention in her native Kilcar on Thursday night.

A long-time community activist, she ran the popular Fusion Bistro with her husband Gary until they were forced to close in 2022.

In 2022, she undertook a charity head shave that raised €6,000 for the Killybegs Community Kitchen.

“A committed community activist, Linda will be a great representative for her local area,” said Sinn Féin Deputy Pearse Doherty, who attended Thursday's convention.

Ms Boyle will join sitting Councillors Michael McMahon and Noel Jordan as the party's candidates in the Donegal Municipal District.
